We are not in a position to send you specific cards without advance warning and you will receive a mixed selection.
All the cards are made by self-employed people who live locally to the Nchima Trust Centre (see Blog dated 9/9/2010 for details). The card makers use shredded (recycled) paper to make the cards by mixing it into a pulp and then drying the sheets. The cards are then decorated with dried banana stems and leaves, feathers, cloth, beads and an assortment of other items.
The Trust's aim with the Nchima Trust Centre is to provide a facility to encourage entrepreneurship and self sufficiency. We also have 3 hectares of land on which we are attempting to create a 'model' farm so that others can learn from some of the techniques we are encouraging the staff to use.
Please take care with any beads on our cards as they may not be safe for young children.
All the cards come with envelopes by the way.
